Horses for Adoption

Colorado Horse Rescue's adoption program places hundreds of horses into loving permanent homes. Adoption can be one of the most rewarding and wonderful experiences of your life. Many people believe that if a horse is available for adoption, nobody wants it and it has no value. This couldn't be further from the truth. Many of our horses are sound, rideable trail horses.

We also have horses that are rideable with limitations, and others that can no longer be ridden due to age or health concerns. These horses can have the much-needed "job" of Companion. Who are these horses? What makes them a companion horse? Most often they are sweet, trusting, and loving animals that have advanced in age or have worked hard throughout their life. Usually they are non-rideable and make excellent friends for other horses. As a Companion, these horses also have the opportunity to live the rest of their days with a caring and loving family.

Here at CHR, we believe that variety is the spice of life, and that every horse should be loved and valued.

At any given time, we have over forty horses available for adoption. These may include horses, ponies, miniature horses, and even an occasional donkey or mule. Breeds may include Quarter Horses, Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Tennessee Walking Horses, Paso Fino's, Mustangs, Paints, Morgans, and wonderful grade horses. Open your heart to a Colorado Horse Rescue horse, and adopt a partner for life!

Atta

Thoroughbred 22 Mare Rideable / Advanced Intermediate
AttaI haven't been at CHR very long but I've managed to integrate nicely into the herd. I have a good disposition and nice temperament under saddle. I can be ridden at all gaites but I should let you know that I have lots of energy and like to move. I need an experienced rider who uses soft hands and quiet leg cues. I used to be ridden English and even did some jumping in my younger days before becoming a trail horse. So if you like versatile Thoroughbreds and like to go on easy rides, I might be the girl for you.

Bebe

Arabian 22 Gelding Rideable (with training)
BebeI'm a cute flea-bitten Arabian who had a rough go at life before coming to CHR. I was kept by myself as a stallion in a round pen for 17 years and never handled. I could only watch the other horses around me and never got to play with any of them. I still struggle to make horse friends but I'm much more comfortable around people these days and respond well to calm handling and consistent schooling. I'm doing well at walking nicely on a lead, being groomed, having my feet picked and trimmed, and I'll even trailer for you. Update...I recently had to have my right eye removed due to cancer so I'm still adjusting to having limited vision but am on my way to recovery. Sponsor Me!

Big Grey

Thoroughbred 26 Gelding Light Ride Only / Advanced Intermediate
Big GreyMy name says it all. I'm big and I'm gray and I was a race horse in my younger days. I was sort of left at a boarding facility for some reason but because I was so nice, several generous boarders took care of me before CHR took me in. I hadn't been ridden in quite a few years before my initial evaluation at CHR but I'm pleased to report that I did great!! I know lots of things and remember the riding routine like it was yesterday. I'm very sensitive to voice and leg commands and can really move out so I'll need a strong rider who can manage my energy. I have very nice manners, love to be groomed, and am a perfect gentleman for the farrier. Recent radiographs of my leg show some ringbone in my left front pastern and arthritis in my fetlock. I had my coffin joint injected and the vet thinks I may hold up to a few more years of light riding. I'm such a nice old guy--I'd love to find a special person who could care for me in my retirement years.

Bindi

Arabian 10 Mare Rideable / Unstarted / Must have trainer
BindiI’m a really cute bay Arab who came to CHR as a victim of neglect. I’m doing well here now and getting enough to eat. I’m friendly but a little shy. The people at CHR don’t know much about my past so they aren’t sure if I’ve ever been ridden but I'm healthy and sound and ready for a trainer who can bring out my best and help me to become a well-adjusted riding horse for a small and lightweight rider.

Blackie

Miniature 18 Geldng Companion only / Advanced-Beginner
blackieThe day I arrrived at the rescue, I overheard someone say that I looked like a miniature Friesian! Now I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not but you could say that I'm very fancy looking. I have a tail that touches the ground, a long flowing mane, and lots of long feathers on my legs. I'm quite cute as I parade around my pasture with my other little buddies--Moti, Sundance, Beauty and Peanut. I'm quite friendly and enjoy being fussed over. They think I was trained to pull a small cart at some point in my life so whether I'd be used for "work" or just as a pal for another mini, I'm sure I'd make a nice addition to any fun loving family.

Cece

Thoroughbred 12 Mare Rideable / Advanced
CeceAren't I beautiful?! I'm one of the tallest and most athletic girls at CHR. I came to the rescue recovering from a wound on my back leg but I'm in good shape now and have started working again on being ridden. I am pretty green (that's what humans say when they mean inexperienced) and have to admit that I am a bit pushy and need a very confident handler to help me stay on my best behavior. But I'm energetic and catch on to things quickly and enjoy the attention of being ridden. I can NEVER be bred again due to a medical problem, which is a-okay with me. If you have a big heart & lots of experience, I would love to go home with you.

Cheyenne

Quarter Horse 18 Mare Rideable / Needs additional training
CheyenneAdopted!
I'm a little bit famous around here for coming to CHR on Christmas Eve 2007 a victim of severe starvation . Our vet said I probably wouldn't have made it through the next snow storm. Lots of news people have visited me and I'm happy to say that I've gained 300 pounds and have been able to join the herd in the pasture! I'm a very shy and sensitive gal who responds best to a quiet handler. I'm sound and healthy and have had trainers work with me to get me ready for riding. I accept a saddle, bridle, and rider very nicely. I have not bucked or shown any temperamental behavior with a rider on my back. I just need to learn leg and rein commands so we can head out on the trail together. I am very submissive in the pasture and have shown no aggressive behavior towards other horses so I'd make a super companion for another mellow horse.

Chico

QH 24 Gelding Non-Rideable / Companion

ChicoAdopted!
I'm the mellow old guy in the boy's pasture who always gets called on to participate in clinic, demonstrations, and media appearances. It must be my nice disposition and calm attitude about retired life. I used to be a lesson horse who took good care of the children who rode me. Now, I am searching for a person with a big heart, to take care of me and allow me to be a buddy to your horse. I can no longer be ridden, but I just love attention and get along great with all of the horses here. Come on… you know your horse needs a new friend! Sponsor Me!

Chief

Apaloosa 21 Gelding Rideable / Intermediate

ChiefSo I hear that I'm the biggest horse at the rescue right now! But don't let my size worry you…I'm a gentle giant who has terrific ground manners and I rarely spook. I don't mind being away from the pasture and I'm a perfect gentleman for the farrier and all things medical. I had been used as a trail horse in my former home but because I foundered some time ago, my feet became a little too sensitive for strenuous work and rocky terrain. However, with proper hoof care including quality shoeing, and a controlled diet (no green pastures for me), I am able to enjoy all sorts of light riding activities. I can be ridden English or Western style but you had better have a big saddle and girth for me! I have a lot of zip in my step and can cover a lot of ground when ridden so I am most suitable for an intermediate level handler. If you like sweet and friendly Appaloosas and can provide for my health considerations, please consider adopting me...I just know we'd get along great.

Cowboy

QH 8 Gelding Non-Rideable / Companion
CowboyI know I'm kind of small but don't you think I'm just the cutest little guy you've ever seen? I'm not sure why, but I have always been tiny, in fact here they refer to me as CHR's miniature Quarter Horse. I guess I never fully developed or something. Other than being small, I am healthy and although I can't be ridden due to some confirmation problems, I could be trained to pull a small cart. I would love to be your new best friend! Sponsor Me!

Diamond

Appaloosa 23 Mare Rideable / Needs Retraining
DiamondDon't you just love all my spots? I'm a very cute bay leopard Appaloosa who is a little shy but very sweet. I may have been treated harshly in my past so I'm working to overcome issues with being ridden. I am responding well to calm and quiet groundwork and enjoy the attention. If you have experience helping horses like me to become more confident, we may be a good match.

Duke

Quarter Horse 25 Gelding Non-Rideable / Companion
DukeI was really skinny when I came to CHR from not getting enough to eat but I’m fine now.   In fact, you could say that I’m an easy keeper!  I’m a gentle old soul most of the time—just slowly wandering around the pasture with my buddies.   I’m very polite around people and other horses.  I need to tell you that I’ll pull back if I’m tied up so that's something to watch with me .  I’m also a little spooky about some things but generally speaking, I’m a really nice guy.  I’m kind of old and slow and a little stiff from arthritis, so it's not a good idea to ride me but if you like big gentle Quarter Horses and can handle my minor spookiness issues, we may get along really well! Fiesty

QH 27 Gelding Non-Rideable / Companion
FiestyIf you like a good looking Quarter Horse then I am definitely the boy for you. I am a striking red dunn gelding who just loves attention. Although I am a big handsome fella, I am not rideable due to a back injury I sustained as a youngster. I want nothing more than to hang out with the boys in my pasture and enjoy some human companionship during my retirement years. My name is a little deceiving because even though I can be just a tad pushy at times, I am really a lover not a fighter. Come on out and see for yourself! Sponsor Me!

Frankie

Arab/QH Cross 9 Gelding Non-Rideable / Companion
FrankieThe best way to describe me is the pasture goofball. I love to play & act silly. Sometimes my antics get me into trouble & I hurt myself. That's why I'm here actually. I cut one of my legs pretty badly a couple of years ago & so I can no longer be ridden. I  need special farrier care to keep my hoof from overgrowing. I am very loving and sweet and would make the best pasture pal ever. I get along with all the horses here, but love human companionship as well. Do you have room in your heart & pasture for a goofball like me?

Ginger

Morgan 27 Mare Rideable / Intermediate
GingerI'm a cute old gal with a gentle disposition and a big heart. I've been a 4-H show horse, a trail horse, cart horse and even a parade horse! I guess you could say that I'm a "multi-tasker!" I would be a terrific horse for someone who just wants to take me on easy-going pleasure rides. I have a lot of spunk under saddle so I'm suitable for a small light-weight intermediate rider who is confident enough to handle all my energy. I have mild Cushings so I take a bit of medicine for that each day but otherwise, I'm in good shape and ready to find a new home..

Ginger Snap

Pony 3+ Filly Rideable / Needs additional training
Ginger SnapI used to be just plain "Ginger" at the rescue but it seems we have a new arrival who's had that name for all her 26 years so I suppose I can share. I'm probably the cutest little pony at the farm! (Ok...I'm the only pony). I'm very small but super friendly and can hold my own in the herd. I've made lots of new friends since arriving at the rescue as a victim of starvation and neglect. After months of special feeding and care, I'm a picture of health and ready to go home to a new family. I still have some growing to do and I'll probably never get very big, but I have personality plus and lots of love to share. I've done lots of groundwork and can be saddled and bridled with no fuss. I'm not sure what to do once all the tack is on me but I'm ok with having a small rider on my back. With a little bit more training, I think I'd make the perfect little show pony for a young girl. I certainly have the personality and looks for it!

Happy

QH 27 Gelding Non-Rideable / Companion
HappyMy name certainly reflects my personality. I am a happy go lucky kind of guy. I feel very lucky that I got to come to CHR. I was being starved to death by my previous owners after giving them years of safe riding. Can you believe how ungrateful some people are? Now I am ready for a fabulous retirement home. I get along well with all of the horses in my pasture, and have impeccable ground manners. I do require special shoeing to keep me comfortable because I have navicular, but otherwise I am a very easy keeper. Come on out and visit with me…. My happiness is contagious. Sponsor Me!

Hershey

Quarterhorse 26 Gelding Light Ride / Intermediate

hersheyI'm a neat old guy who's been through several bouts of neglect with former families. One of my previous owners thought it was OK to cut off my tail for an "art project" so I'll need some extra help this summer to keep the flies away from me. My teeth aren't very good anymore so I can't process large amount of hay but I do just fine eating a mixture of senior feed combined with soaked beet pulp and alfalfa pellets. I have a very mellow disposition and nice ground manners. I'm well trained and suitable for light riding. If you think you could give a nice old guy like me a new home, please come and visit!

Justice

Quarterhorse 35 Gelding Advanced Beginner / Limited Ride
JusticeSome people think "30 something" is old...well they should just get a look at me. I was neglected before being rescued by my friends at CHR. Just look at me now, I'm fit as a fiddle even with the distinguished gray hair I have on my face. I have a little arthritis in my knees, but I would love to take your little kids or grandkids on short walks. I'm a no-nonsense fellow who saddles and bridles like a pro. I am not the least bit herdy and have no problem leaving the pasture when you need me to. I guess you could say I'm an all-around nice guy just looking for the perfect home! Sponsor Me!

Kharma

Mustang 6 Gelding Unstarted / Will need trainer
kharmaI am one of the Mustangs rescued from a ranch in Nebraska in May—you may have heard about us on the news. I was very thin when I arrived here but have been eating very well and gaining weight. I’m super shy and very wary of things so it will take some time for me to come around to being comfortable around people. I’m looking for a home where someone who is familiar with Mustangs can work with me regularly so I may become the best horse that I can be!

Killian

Thoroughbred 14 Gelding Rideable / Advanced
KillianDid you know that I'm the rescue's fanciest Thoroughbred? My grandfather was the great Northern Dancer and I have many other famous racehorses in my family tree. I was a dressage horse in my former life but suffered a stifle injury and couldn't hold up to the rigors of competition any longer. So after several years of hanging out in the pasture here at the rescue, our vet has cleared me for rehabilitation under saddle. I move beautifully at all gaites and have been well-trained. I can get a little fussy about being away from my pasture mates but that improves with consistent handling. I need to spend some time getting back in shape for riding so I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Ledger

QH Type born 2007 Gelding Young / Unstarted
ledgerAww…Who doesn't love a baby horse. Ok--I'm not so little anymore but I'm still young and very cute. I'm not sure exactly what breed I am but it looks like I might have some Paint horse in me. I had a rough start in life before Animal Control authorities rescued me from horrible living conditions. I was kept in a dark stall with two other horses. None of us could ever lie down or go out and run around. Now that I'm at the rescue, I have plenty of room to play and have made friends with all the staff and volunteers. I hear I'm one of the most mellow and best behaved young guys at the rescue so I'm sure I'll be a pleasure to train to ride once I'm a little older. I'd like to find a home where I could keep company with another gentle horse like me and have a family who can help me reach my full potential.

Lily

Miniature Horse 33 Mare Non-Rideable / Companion
LilyExperienced horse people only need apply for me. I will not even try to snow you about myself. Experts believe that I may have been taunted and teased and probably spoiled by little kids in my past. In my previous home, I was living with chickens and ducks and had to compete for every morsel of food so I came to CHR very thin and unhappy. So all of this has made me a pretty grouchy girl if I'm feeling threatened--I'll definately try and defend myself. However, I've made great progress here and my issues are very manageable now. I'm good for farrier and vet work and just love to go on walks, like to be groomed and bathed, and can be trailered easily. I do have special feed requirements because of my history with choke but I'm a pretty healthy old gal who just like to spend time napping in the sun and hanging out. I know the right person is out there for me and I promise to try really hard to be a good girl if you just give me a chance. Oh, one more thing: I am definitely not safe for children. Sponsor Me!

Little Bit

QH 5 Mare Young—Unstarted—Must have trainer
little bitI’m a cute but small Quarter Horse who likes to hang out in the pasture.  I’ve got a mind of my own sometimes and I struggle with being nervous when I'm taken out of my pasture. I tend to overreact if something spooks me so having an expert handler is a must for me .  I need an experienced and confident handler who can work through these issues with me.  I have done some basic groundwork in the round pen but will need a professional trainer to get me started. In the meantime, I am looking for a trainer who practices Natural Horsemanship that might be available to volunteer some time to come out and help me with some of my issues.  I’d love to find just the right home and a family of my own.

Now I love to be groomed, scratched, taken on walks, and will even climb up on the scale! I'm very curious and willing to try new things. I’m looking for a family familiar with Mustangs who can work with me as I grow up and although I probably won’t ever get very big, I still have lots of love to share.

Quarter Horse 8 Mare Rideable—Needs experienced handler
LolaI may have come to CHR as a skinny girl but I’m in good shape now!  I have a wonderful disposition and do just fine away from the pasture.  I’m good with my feet and medical procedures.   I am a sound and rideable mare but will need an experienced rider because I’m very green.  I’m very sensitive and respond best to calm and quiet handling.   I do well in my weekly round pen schooling sessions and am learning more and more each time.  I’m a pretty mover, very athletic, and have the potential to be wonderful riding companion for just the right person.

I am a very well trained gal who likes to "show off" my fancy footwork. I have been ridden mostly English style and have been used as a trail horse. I have very nice ground manners and enjoy the company of people and other horses. I am sound and in very good health. I'd be the perfect pleasure horse for a lightweight rider who enjoys time on the trail or in the arena.

I am a gaited horse who can really move out so don’t let my age fool you. I have plenty of spunk and personality and enjoy the company of other mares. I had been well cared for and loved at my previous home for 20 years so I’m looking for a new family to take me in. Penny

Arabian X 10 Mare Rideable / Untrained
PennyYou will recognize me in the pasture with my long flowing mane. The volunteers keep it nicely braided for me so I don't get tangles. I have not had much training, but I do know the basics: I lead, load, tie & am good for the farrier. I am blind in one eye due to an infection that was not treated at my previous home. This loss of sight has made me a bit spooky, but with a calm experienced person I really relax. I will need training if you would like to ride me, and a small person (I am a little girl 13H), but I know I can do it. I am requesting someone with training experience so we can ride off into the sunsets together someday.

Promise

Arab X 5 Mare Rideable / Untrained under saddle
PromiseI'm a bit of a celebrity around here having made the TV news and newspaper circuit shortly after my arrival. You see, I was found wandering around in traffic outside of Denver very hungry and very lost. No one claimed me so animal control officers suspected that I was intentionally abandoned. Since coming to the rescue, I have put on lots of weight and have joined the other gals in the mares' pasture. I have done a bit of groundwork lately and am learning about being saddled and bridled. I'm parrot mouthed and my right eye is somewhat lopsided on my head which limits my range of visibility but I do just fine with my challenges. I'm otherwise healthy and sound and get along fine with people and other horses. I can get a bit honery if I think you might be coming in to take my food away but with some consistent handling and direction, I should work out of this issue. So, if you think I might be a fun "project," please consider taking me home.

Ransom

TB X 4+ Gelding Rideable / Needs additional training
RansomI will always be grateful to the folks here at CHR who rescued me from the livestock auction. Can you believe I was dumped off there when I was only 6 months old? Anyway, I've grown up big and strong and have started to be trained as a riding horse. I have a bit of a crooked knee but after the vet took radiographs, she said that I am a good candidate for monthly glycosamine shots that will help keep my knee in good shape for many years to come. I will be suitable for pleasure riding but too much strenous athletic activity such as jumping, dressage, or rodeo work may be too much for my knee. So please keep me in mind if you are interested in a nice young horse with a good disposition.

I've been gaining weight since my arrival and I'm in good shape now. I'm a very nice guy who gets along well with people and other horses. I can be ridden as a pleasure horse but because I have mild navicular in my front feet, I won't hold up to riding that is too strenuous. I get a little anxious when ridden but with some quiet and consistent handling, I think I'll become a much more confident horse. Maybe you can be my forever riding buddy and companion someday soon!

ShadowI'm a big and handsome guy that is looking for a someone who loves spotted horses because I have lots of them! I'm a nicely trained riding horse who can be ridden Western or English. I don't take a bit (I remember getting kicked in the mouth as a youngster) but I do just fine in a hackamore I'm a bit out of shape and a little lazy from not being ridden in a year but I still remember what to do. I have some mild Navicular in my front feet but with good quality farrier care and proper shoeing, I am suitable for light riding; in fact the vet says that exerecise is good for my condition. I also have a little bit of arthritis in my hocks so I take some meds for that each month but otherwise, I'm in great shape. I do best just having a horse friend (I love mares) or two around as big herds make me a little anxious. So if you think I might fit in to your family, I'd love to make you my forever friend.

SkyAren't I handsome! A far cry from when I arrived here. I was severely neglected and almost starved to death. It was a long long road to recovery, but I am thankful for all the wonderful care I received during my rehabilitation. I cannot be ridden due to some neurological issues, but I am a nice guy who has takin' quite a liking to a cute blond mare here named Feather. She became my constant companion when we had to say our final goodbyes to my last pasture pal so we would love to retire together with a loving family. I was a bit thin when I arrived at the rescue but I've been eating well and gaining weight. I'm a nice horse with good ground manners. I was trained in my past but have not been ridden consistently for several years. I tend to get very nervous under saddle so I'd love to find a calm and quiet person to adopt me who can help me gain more confidence. I don't buck or kick and am not very spooky so I think that with some consistent handling and gentle praise, I'd make a nice trail horse for just the right person.

Spice

Paint 7 Mare Rideable / Advanced
spiceOkay, so I know I don't look like a Paint but that's what my papers say! Anyway, I'm a flashy sorrel colored mare who has had basic saddle training and am ready for an advanced level rider to take me to the next level. I've been ridden Western and English style and I don't have any history of bucking or rearing with a rider on me which I hear is a very good thing. I love pasture life and get along well with other horses. If I'm having fun with my herd mates, I can be a bit hard to catch but with more consistent handling, I'm sure I'd get over that issue. I've been out of work for awhile so I'll need some time to get back into shape but I'm young, sound, healthy and ready to go.

Suede

Quarter Horse 20 Gelding Companion only / Advanced-Beginner
suedeI know I'm sort of oddly shaped but I'm just the nicest horse you would ever want to be around. You see, I have a spinal deformity that caused my sway back but it doesn't get in the way of my getting around. (Believe it or not, I used to be a race horse)! I arrived at the rescue very underweight but I've been eating well and have gained nearly all my weight back. I'm in good enough shape now to leave for a new home. I'd love to be a pasture pal for another horse or two and be a part of a loving family. Sponsor me!

Summer

Arab 20 Mare Rideable / Advanced Beginner
SummerWhen I came to CHR, I was 10+ months pregnant and very hungry.  People at CHR were worried that my baby might have some health problems due to my starvation but my little filly, Blossom, is just fine and has since been adopted!  I have adjusted to life without her and I've now had several riding evaluations. I am indeed rideable, well trained and suitable for a very lightweight intermediate rider. I'm a little out of shape since giving birth but with some consistent handling and exercise, I should get my stylish figure back in no time! I am a beautiful lady who would make a wonderful companion for other horses and people too!

Sundance

Miniature 19 Gelding Companion only / Intermediate
sundanceI'm a cute mini Paint horse who recently came to CHR with my buddies Beauty, Peanut, Blackie, and Moti. I'm very flashy and kind but I'm quite shy and a little spooky so I think I need a home where someone could work with me regularly and get me to come out of my shell. I get along great with other minis and would benefit from living in a quiet setting with just another pal or two. (I really like my friend, Moti, so maybe you would consider adopting the two of us together)? I'd love the chance to find a new forever home.

Trooper

Quarter Horse 20 Gelding Rideable / Intermediate
trooperI'm looking for my luck to change after enduring a recent bout of neglect. I came to the rescue after my owner passed away and his family was unable to care for me properly. They didn't provide me with enough to eat and had no idea what proper hoof care entailed. Since being at the rescue, I've been eating well and gaining weight. I've also had extensive work done on my hooves by a top notch farrier. Several years ago I was a very fancy show horse having won lots of AQHA points in Western and English disciplines so once I gain a little more weight, I'll be suitable for riding again. I'm a terrific ride and well behaved under saddle. I really need something to do with my time or I tend to crib and get a little grouchy. So some light riding would do me good and help take my mind off this bad habit of mine. Come and visit if you think you could give a horse like me a home.

Vanna

Mustang 15 Mare Intermediate / Under evaluation for rideability
VannaI'm the spunky, easy-keeper Mustang at the rescue who has just been cleared by our vet for re-evaluation as a riding horse! I had been classified as "companion only" for awhile due to an old injury but it looks like I get to go back to work. I'll keep you updated on my progress and let you know if I will be released as a riding horse. Being a Mustang, I'm a little shy but once I warm up to someone, I'm very easy to handle. I need to be ridden on very soft ground or wear shoes because it seems that I have very sensitive feet and have difficulty moving around on hard terrain. So if you have some experience with Mustangs and would like the companionship of a cute little mare, keep me in mind--I'd love to find a forever home!

Wanna Cruz

TB 27 Mare New arrival / Under Evaluation
Wanna CruzI'm a new addition to the CHR herd and just happy to be here. With the help of many generous people, I was able to get out of an unfortunate situation and come to the rescue for some special care and rehabilitation. I was pretty hungry when I arrived but I've been eating well and gaining a lot of weight in a short amount of time. Problems with my front teeth prevented me from being able to graze on the pasture where I lived so I just wasn't getting enough to eat. I'm a very nice, easy going gal who has nice ground manners and is very well behaved for the farrier and the vet. Once I am up to a healthy weight, I will be evaluated as a riding horse so I will keep you posted on my progress. In the meantime, wish me well on my road to recovery.

Zena

Thoroughbred 19 Mare Rideable / Advanced Intermediate
ZenaI’m a nice tall gal who came to CHR very thin and with badly overgrown hooves.  After getting back to a healthy weight and having lots of farrier work done, it’s time to see what I can do.  I’m currently being evaluated as a riding horse and all is going well. I'm good on the trail and in an arena setting. I'm a little unsure of things sometimes but get better each time I'm ridden. I've shown no interest in bucking or rearing which I hear is a good thing! I can be a little bit herdy and prefer to just hang out in the pasture but I think I’d improve greatly if I had a person in my life that I could trust and who wouldn’t hurt me.
