Surrendering A Horse to Colorado Horse Rescue
Horses come to Colorado Horse Rescue from many different
sources; however, a large number of our horses are owner
surrenders. These horses are turned over by owners who
can no longer care for them. Surrendering your horse
can be a very difficult decision to make, and we respect
that. We are happy to answer questions you may
have to help you make an informed decision.
You have decided that you need to surrender your horse – what
now?
The first step in the surrender process is to complete
and submit a surrender
application. Once
we receive your application, we will contact you regarding
our current space & financial availability.

If we are able to accept your horse into our program
the following information/documentation must be provided
prior to intake:

$350.00 surrender fee payable by cash or check

Proof of Current Vaccinations

Current Proof of Negative Coggins Test

Current Health Certificate

Completed Veterinarian
Release form

Brand Certificate transferring ownership to Colorado

Horses registration paperwork

Transportation to be provided by owner
