The Value of Connection

Using Your Network for Good

In November 2023, CHR’s truck which we rely on to feed our herd of 60 broke down unexpectedly. After noticing our need for a new vehicle, CHR staff members were casually approached by a new volunteer. She mentioned that she had a connection who worked for a charitable giving institution, and she was willing to reach out on CHR’s behalf to see what funds were available. Within a day, CHR had an application in hand for UnitedWay Miami and was in communication with their grant manager. After a few quick exchanges via email, CHR was notified of a $25,000 check headed our way to put towards the purchase of a new truck!

This story is a perfect example of the power of connection. Funding facilitated by UnitedWay Miami would not have otherwise been accessible to us had this eager volunteer not stepped forward to offer her help. At CHR, we are constantly amazed at the enthusiasm of our volunteers and donors. Their commitment to CHR’s mission is demonstrated in part by the way they gladly leverage their personal and professional networks for the good of the horses we serve. We have had the privilege of seeing many new, meaningful relationships with CHR be formed thanks to introductions made by our supporters.

Thank you to the CHR community for your dedication to CHR’s mission, and we look forward to continuing to put your investments to work for the betterment of horses in Colorado and beyond.
